President's Message

Greetings colleagues and friends,

Our chapter is gearing up for another fantastic event on November 20, as we are set to welcome Robert Howell from ACI International, who will give a presentation on Concrete Cracking - including causes and control of cracking, evaulation methods, mitigation, and crack repair. You won't want to miss this one, and it's good for 0.1 CEU/1.0 PDH/1.0 AIA LU! And for the icing on the cake, ACI International is offering a giveaway to one lucky attendee, who will have the choice between:

  1. ACI College of Concrete Codes, Specifications, and Practices ($799 value)
  2. ACI University All-Access Digital Subscriptions (monthly webinars and on-demand courses) ($299 value)
  3. ACI Concrete Repair Digital Subscription ($249 value)

I also wanted to offer many thanks to Bill Cuerdon of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) for his October presentation about jointing concrete roundabouts.

We've been sending around corporate member roster lists to our corporate members to remind you that up to 15 people within your organization can be eligible to claim ACI CNY membership benefits. For our newly renewed corporate members - this roster list should be coming your way shortly via e-mail.

And, as always, don't forget to submit your recently completed projects for award consideration! Click https://acicny.org/Awards for more information!

Hope to see you on 11/20!

Program description:

This presentation will cover various aspects related to concrete cracking. This topic is both a contentious and unfortunately, a common issue nationally. Often, the key to addressing cracking issues is learning how to properly determine the cause of the crack so it can be mitigated and prevented in future projects. Topics covered in this presentation will include:

  • Causes and control of cracking
  • Evaulation methods
  • Mitigation
  • Crack repair

*This presentation has been approved for 0.1 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) (1 Professional Development Hour/ 1 AIA LU Hour).

*Attendees will be entered into a drawing to win their choice of one of three prizes from ACI! Click here to check out the subscriptions you could win!
